Using Google Public Data Explorer and Prepared by TownLife, these Annual Municipal Financials are based on data from the Government of Alberta. The 'Municipal Financial Information Return (FIR)' requires a breakdown by function of revenues and expenses. When deciding where to classify a particular revenue or expense, the primary criteria is the purpose or objective of the activity to which it is related. The categories of this information are defined by the Financial Reporting and Assurance Standards of Canada.
